Claire Weir is the current Chairperson of the Swimming Taranaki Board and has been instrumental in the running of Swimming Taranaki since taking on the role.
Claire took up the position at Swimming Taranaki while they, like all other regions, were under-going the process of formulating and adopting a new regional constitution and played a big role in the process.
She also led Swimming Taranaki through the recruitment process for finding a new Regional Administrator after the previous administrator resigned from her job after 12 years in the position. Claire has since spent many hours assisting the new administrator to learn the role.
Now Claire is providing strong leadership through the process of reviewing and up-dating current policies and has been a big support in the development of the new website and running of the first regional meet using the Swimming New Zealand database for entries.
Claire also provides the link between Taranaki and the other three regions that make up Central Swimming as well as to Swimming New Zealand.
At the 2015 Swimming Taranaki Awards, which Claire organised, she was the recipient of the Gayton Trophy for Overall Excellence and Dedication to Taranaki Swimming.
At a club level Claire manages the Aquabladz membership database and can always be seen at local and regional meets with a stop-watch in hand.
She is often Team Manager/cook/chaperone for our many club camps and trips away and takes an active role in club fundraising.
