"Prime Minister’s Athlete Scholarships allow athletes to undertake tertiary study and vocational qualifications while pursuing elite level sport at the same time"

Swimming New Zealand will support either carded athletes who have worked with their athlete life advisor in deciding that tertiary or vocational study while pursuing excellence within Swimming is the right path for them, or athletes who are on the path way to being carded.


Athletes wishing to be considered for a Scholarship must have an Individual Performance Plan (IPP) for the 12- month period in which they wish to study.

Scholarships are awarded for 1 January to 31 December and whilst applications deadlines are 1 December annually it would be advised to start and submit your application sooner to ensure the correct information is provided on time. No late applications will be accepted by HPSNZ.

All applications for the PM Scholarships are to be submitted in alignment with the HPSNZ guidelines with all Swimming applications then endorsed by SNZ.
