Coaches, clubs and regions' toolbox
The purpose of this "toolbox" is to provide coaches, clubs and regions with useful information about Para swimming.
This is a continuation of Swimming New Zealand's inclusive stance, where we aim to be a fully inclusive sporting organisation where ALL swimmers compete and grow as ONE.
While this toolbox will have some information, please don't be shy in contacting Swimming New Zealand's Para Swimming Development Coordinator Cameron Leslie on cameron@swimming.org.nz if you have anything specific you are looking for.
If you would like to know where your Para swimmer sits with regard to world rankings and possible areas or races for targeting please contact Cameron. Swimming New Zealand has a data tracking resource Cameron uses to keep an eye on where our club and competitive Para swimmers are in relation to others in the world - which has made for interesting discussion as it removes any subjectivity.
How are Para medals decided? Multi-classification racing explained.

Like the Olympic Games, the Paralympic Games have specific events which are raced. These events vary between classifications depending on several factors set by World Para Swimming and can change between each Paralympic Games.
Classification provides a structure for competition. Athletes competing in Paralympic sports have an impairment that leads to a competitive disadvantage in sport.
Globally swimming is governed by World Para Swimming, which incorporates the regulations of the International Swimming Federation (FINA) and has rules specific to Para swimmers...
