Commonwealth Games swimmer Ewan Jackson is through to the semi-finals on day two day of the World University Games in Korea.
Jackson set a personal best time of 1:49.58 in the 200m freestyle to earn a place in the semi-finals in the evening programme.
The Howick Pakuranga swimmer was the eighth fastest and went under his previous best time set at the New Zealand Open Championships in April.
The highlight tonight will be Laura Quilter who will race in the final of the 50m butterfly.
She could not make it two evening swims, after missing out in the heats of the 100m freestyle this morning. Quilter clocked 57.02s which was the 24th fastest time with teammate Georgia Marris (57.41s) 26th.
In other swims North Canterbury’s Natasha Lloyd is the second reserve for tonight’s semi-finals of the 100m breaststroke after clocking the 18th best time of 1:10.08 in the heats.
Michael Mincham was timed at 1:54.34 in the heats of the 100m freestyle to be 33rd fastest while Monique King (17:04.98) was 13th fastest in heats of the 1500m freestyle.
