Commonwealth Games-bound swimmer Glenn Snyders has enjoyed a timely win in his final shakedown event in USA today.
Snyders took out the 100m breaststroke at the Fran Crippen Memorial Night of Stars meet at the famed Mission Viejo in California.
The New Zealander is currently based in Los Angeles, training under American Olympic coach Dave Salo at the Trojans Club.
He was the top qualifier in the 100m breaststroke in 1:02.15, going on to win the final in 1:02.22. Snyders rushed out to a 29.05 opening 50m and went 33s on his return to hold on for the win in a close battle.
Yesterday he was sixth in the 200m breaststroke in 2:19.66.
Fellow Glasgow teammate Corey Main, who is on scholarship at the University of Florida, bypassed the meet after competing in the Santa Clara Grand Prix last week.
Main was fourth in the 100m backstroke in 55.54, sixth in the 200m backstroke in 2:02.27 and was 10th in the 200m freestyle in 1:53.12.
The pair will now fly to Europe to meet up with the rest of the New Zealand team who will be competing in the French Open Championships at Vichy this weekend ahead of their final staging camp in Mallorca.
