Fifteen promising swim teachers flocked to a recent Swimming New Zealand course at AUT Millennium on Auckland’s North Shore.
The group came from varied backgrounds and experience in swim teaching and some with English as a second language.
Taking part in the Swimming New Zealand Swim Teacher Award course the participants were tested first hand on their ability to work in a busy pool environment with a swim meet taking place on one side and flipper ball on the other.
Swimming New Zealand Education Advisor Kay West said everyone on the course was great and those with English as a second language were assisted to make sure they understood everything being taught on the one day course.
All of the participants will now be supported by Swimming New Zealand to complete their post course requirements to receive their Awards and earn 43 Level 3 NCEA credits.
