Safer Boating Week on 16–23 October 2015 aims to focus boaties’ attention on key safety messages as they get their vessels and gear ready for the traditional start of the boating season at Labour weekend.
Swimming New Zealand supports Maritime NZ’s Safer Boating messages and is participating this week by wearing our lifejackets at work (Watersafe Auckland’s initiative #wearit forwork).
Swimming New Zealand Education Advisers have completed the Coastguard Boating Education instructor training and promote safer boating in its Kiwi Swim Safe programme in schools. SNZ also teaches how to include life jackets and boat safety messages in lessons when training swim teachers.
To find out more about Safer Boating week check out their website here and check out the facebook page along with many of their supporters pages and initiatives.
