New Zealand’s top age group swimmers competing in Brisbane and Melbourne this week have continued to produce top performances in the latest day of competition.
Four young Kiwis led the way on the third day of competition at the Victorian Age Group Championships with a first place finish.
Youth Commonwealth Games swimmer Eliot Lundon-Moore (Aquabladz New Plymouth) clocked 2:19.94 to finish first in the 17-18 years 200m breaststroke while club mate Zac Reid grabbed his second win of the meet in the 15 years 400m freestyle (4:06.01).
Sixteen year old Satori Dobbie (Jasi, Canterbury) topped the podium in the 100m backstroke with a time of 59.82.
Rotorua’s Bianca Donnelly led a Kiwi one – two finish in the 13 years 200m backstroke with a time of 2:25.05. Sasha Reid (Aquabladz) following her home in 2:27.19.
Fourteen year old Lochlainn O’Connor (Greerton) scored two second places finishes in the 200m butterfly (2:12.63) and 100m freestyle (55.32).
Also taking home a podium finish was St Paul’s swimmer Ben Littlejohn in the 13 years 200m backstroke clocking 2:25.95.
Age group finalists at the Queensland Championships included 15 year old Kiwi West Aquatics swimmers Mya Rasmussen and Xavier Hill who both placed seventh in their 200m butterfly events in 2:23.81 and 2:14.12 respectively.
Hamish Trlin (Capital) also had a seventh place finish in the 17-18 years 100m breaststroke with a time of 1:06.70.
Other finalists included 15 year old Thomas Wilson (QEII, Canterbury) who was ninth in the 100m freestyle (54.07) and Ruby Matthews (Otumoetai) who was 10th in the 16 years 100m breaststroke (1:18.60).
