World Surf Lifesaving Champion Laura Quilter added a second semi-final swim to her successful World University Games campaign in the 50m backstroke. Quilter swam a personal best time of 29.46 in the heats to progress through to the evening round in 15th position. She bettered her time again in the semi-final, swimming a 29.45, to finish with a 14th placing.
Taranaki swimmer Charlotte Webby finished inside the top 16 in the 800m freestyle, while Matthew Hutchins improved his ranking by three places in the 100m butterfly.
Neptune Otago team-mates Kate Godfrey and Matthew Glassford were just outside their best in the heats of the 50m backstroke and breaststroke. Godfrey finished 23rd in the backstroke, posting a time of 30.08, while Glassford clocked 31.00 in the breaststroke.
