Day three of the World University Games saw another Kiwi progress past the heats, and this time it was Emily McGill from the Capital Swim Club.
McGill produced a strong morning swim in the heats of the 200m Individual Medley, clocking 2:21.31. She was slightly slower than this in the evening, finishing 16th with a 2:23.07.
It was a close call for Kate Godfrey and Laura Quilter who narrowly missed semi-final spots, finishing 17th in their heat swims. Godfrey was just behind McGill in the heats of the 200m individual Medley stopping the clock at 2:22.12, while Quilter produced a season best in the 100m Backstroke.
Matthew Glassford was just outside his best in the heats of the 200m Breaststroke with a 20th placing, and Charlotte Webby gave the 1500m Freestyle a good crack with a 17:39.95, finishing 12th, as she prepares for the 10km open water event at the end of the swimming programme.
Swimmers in action on day four are: Emily McGill (200m Breaststroke), Matthew Hutchins (100m Freestyle), Laura Quilter (100m Butterfly), Troy Balvert (800m Freestyle).
