Swimming New Zealand appreciates and understands the frustrations and concerns that parents and families have expressed regarding tickets to the 2016 New Zealand Junior Championships.
This is not an ideal situation for all concerned as we face a supply versus demand issue. The facility, as determined by health and safety regulations, has a maximum capacity and we must ensure the safety of those in the facility by not over admitting individuals to the building.
It is important to note that the National Aquatic Centre has the largest capacity (spectator and athlete) of any aquatic facility in New Zealand.
The Events Team are finalising yesterday’s allocation sales and investigating final availability. There are some sessions with seats still available and information on when these tickets can be purchased will be released prior to these going online. Swimming New Zealand request that if you have already purchased tickets to the event to please be mindful of the other parents who have not yet been able to do so.
The team are also investigating other ways of ensuring that parents don’t miss the opportunity to see their children compete at the 2016 Junior Championships – such as a ticket exchange for people who leave the session after their child’s event to pass on their seat to someone that was not able to secure a ticket online. Further information will be made available in due course on this.
In short, SNZ are trying to avoid the disappointment of parents being turned away on the day when there is not seating available.
