The start of something extraordinary

Week One - London

After a quiet couple of days things are ramping up in London. Firstly the weather was really hot over the past two days – but afraid that this might be the entirety of the English summer. Yesterday coincided with a big day for cycling in GBR with Cavendish becoming the single biggest winner of stages in the Tour de France and Bradley Wiggins winning the title – the first Brit to do so (even if he was born in Belgium).

We went into the city to a great bike shop called Look Ma No Hands that had been turned into a bar, with toilets on the footpath and hoards watching the big screen of Le Tour. Fantastic.

At the same time we threaded out way through a rather dingy street in East London that is transformed once a year with a street party complete with strangely dressed people plus an array of Urban Art including the Banker Walking Off The Roof, the robot dog and also the huge transformer made from plastic rubbish bins.

Back to the job at hand and things are filling up for sure. Some pics attached of the food hall. It is more than 200m in length and at its height will house 20,000 plus. Best of all – the curry section is finally open. So there are about 50 services areas in total ... plus of course McCafe. It is the best source of coffee .... but the queues are getting out of hand now.

Taken a pic of the view with the aquatic centre on the left and main stadium.

The swimmers came in today from Belgium – trained in on Eurostar.

More to come.....
