Michael Mills from Papatoetoe Swim Club was the individual star on the third day of competition at the State NZ Division II competition being held in Hamilton this week.
The 17 year old has won an impressive six medals and was on a streak of gold until the sixth session where he had to settle for silver in his last race of the night in the 400m individual medley.
Mills has so far claimed victory in the men’s 16 to 18 year old age group in the 50m butterfly, 50m and 100m backstroke, 200m butterfly and the 200m individual medley.
Also with six medals in the men’s competition is Thomas Raymond from Matamata Swim Club, his tally standing at four gold and two silver after claiming gold in the 100m freestyle and silver in the 400m individual medley on the third day.
Howick Pakuranga swimmer Quianna Thomson also has six medals and is leading the women’s competition with a total of four gold, one silver and one bronze.
In the club points St Peters Swimming Academy continue to dominate in the lead with 549 points, followed up by Coast Swim Club in second with 428 points and Pukekohe Swimming Club in third with 425 points.
The competition concludes tomorrow with events in the 1500m freestyle, 100m butterfly, 200m breaststroke, 50m freestyle and 400m individual medley.
