Golden Bay Swimming Club are ready to help more people in their community this summer after five of their volunteers completed their Swimming New Zealand Swim Teacher Award (SNZ STA).
The club run lessons over summer and offer classes for beginners through to squad levels at the Golden Bay High School outdoor pool.
Last year volunteer coaches, Lori Godden, Chris Pomeroy, Cheryl Elsey, Hannah Marshall and Jennifer Smith, took part in the SNZ STA Course and received their qualification after recently completing their final assessment with SNZ Education Advisor Sarah Gibbison.
Sarah said “the coaches are very knowledgeable in the area of health and safety and I was impressed to see the relationships the club volunteers hold with both the swimmers and their families.”
“The club offers a real family feel and families are encouraged to sit in the grass in the sunshine while their children are swimming."
Swimming New Zealand looks forward to continuing to work with Golden Bay Swimming Club and wish them the very best for their swimming season.
The Swimming New Zealand Swim Teacher Award is a nationally recognised training programme developed to train people for teaching swimming and personal survival.
