Auckland’s Michael Mincham was the first Kiwi in the pool on the opening day of the FINA World Short Course Swimming Championships in Canada.
Mincham, from the United club, clocked 3:50.98 in heats of the 400m freestyle in the first event of the championships at Windsor in Ontario.
His time was well outside the top eight who qualified for tonight’s final in what was his shakedown swim for the 1500m freestyle later in the meet.
Howick Pakuranga’s Daniel Hunter is in action tomorrow in the 200m freestyle.
