The start of something extraordinary

SPLASH PALACE SWIM TEACHERS PREPARE FOR BUSY SUMMER

Splash Palace Quality Swim School teachers recently participated in a Swimming New Zealand Education workshop in preparation for the busy summer months ahead.

The team who are based at The Southland Aquatic Centre, recently took part in a confidence building and submersion workshop over the school holiday period run by Swimming NZ Education Operations Manager Tracey Hickman.

Currently the Splash Palace swim school have over 800 children enrolled in their classes. Splash Palace also provide lessons for over 30 schools in Invercargill ensuring every child in the region has access to swimming lessons.

"We are so happy our teachers took part in the workshop with Tracey. It was great for new ideas and enthusiasm to try new things, but also reiterates that what your doing is right," says Splace Spalace Swim School Supervisor, Marie McQueen.

The workshop was a mixture of theory and practical teaching saw the swim teachers discussing barriers to learning and what contributes to fear and anxiety for some children.

In the pool the swim teachers learnt new confidence and submersion activities and skill based games to encourage the swimmers to have fun while learning.

"The team at Splash Palace were really engaged in their learning, asking great questions and participating fully in the pool session" says Swimming New Zealand Education Operations Manager Tracey Hickman.

The Swimming New Zealand workshop is one of the many benefits registered Quality Swim Schools can receive.
