New Zealand’s campaign in the pool came to an end at the Youth Olympic Games in China today.
The quartet of Gabrielle Fa’amausili, Jacob Garrod, Bobbi Gichard and Michael Mincham finished sixth in the final heat of the 4x100m mixed medley relay. They clocked 4:03.52 and have not advanced to tonight’s final.
The swim team enjoyed success with two bronze medals to the two youngest swimmers in the competition – 14 year olds Fa’amausili (50m backstroke) and Gichard (100m backstroke), with the pair set to push each other on the international scene for many years to come.
