The start of something extraordinary

NEW DATES for the 2020 NZ Secondary School Championships

Dear swimming community,

After careful consideration of the options available to us following the postponement of this weekend’s NZ Secondary School Championships, we are excited to announce a rescheduled date for this event, which will now be held at Waterworld in Hamilton from Thursday 15 – Sunday 18 October 2020.

We acknowledge that the change of dates will not be suitable for everyone and that some of those entered won’t be able to attend. However, we are also conscious that 2020 has provided limited opportunities for our swimmers to compete nationally and this was a key factor in our decision to reschedule the event as opposed to cancelling it outright.

All entries made for the original dates will remain, so if you have entered already you don’t need to re-enter the event again. We have created a platform for those now unable to attend to withdraw their entries, a platform for schools to make alterations to their relay entries and a platform for those who are able to attend the rescheduled dates. These online forms are available on the event webpage – please click here

All team manager and coach accreditation passes will remain, so if you have already applied you don’t need to re-apply. We have created an online form for changes to be made, this will also be available on the event webpage.

All ticket purchases will remain valid. If you can no longer attend please request a refund of your ticket. If there are tickets available for purchase, these will be made available on Saturday 5 September at 9 am.

Please note that the competition could only take place if Hamilton is in Level 1 and the rest of the country, or part of it, is not in Level 3 or above.

We must also advise that unfortunately due to the rescheduled dates being in Term 4, we have been advised by School Sport NZ that it will not sanction this event.  This decision will not impact how the event is delivered in any way and the event will remain the Swimming NZ National Secondary School Championships.

Please continue to stay safe and take care.
