Where To Watch Your NZ Para Swimming Team As They Take On The Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games



The Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games kicks off tonight with the opening ceremony and all Paralympic swimming events begin tomorrow, Wednesday 25th August. The heats air in New Zealand at 12 pm and the finals air at 8 pm NZT.

CEO of Swimming New Zealand, Steve Johns says, "On behalf of everyone at Swimming NZ and the wider swimming community, I’d like to offer my best wishes to the Para Swimming Team as it embarks on its Paralympic journey in Tokyo starting tomorrow.  We are all extremely proud of all your achievements to get to this point and can’t wait to see you all in action in the pool in Tokyo – kia kaha!"

Four New Zealand Para swimmers will race across 13 individual events:

  • Sophie Pascoe, 100m Freestyle - S9, 100m Backstroke - S9, 100m Breaststroke - SB8, 100m Butterfly - S9, 200m Individual Medley - SM9 (QEII Swim Club), coached by Roly Crichton
     
  • Jesse Reynolds, 400m Freestyle - S9, 100m Backstroke - S9, 100m Butterfly - S9,  200m Individual Medley - SM9 (Fairfield Swimming Club) coached by Simon Mayne
     
  • Tupou Neiufi, 50m Freestyle - S8, 100m Backstroke - S8 (Pukekohe Swim Club) coached by Sheldon kemp
     
  • Nikita Howarth, 100m Breaststroke - SB7, 50m Butterfly - S7 (Hamilton Aquatics) coached by Mat Woofe
