Flyers Swim Squad - Head Coach

Flyers Swim Squad is a family oriented, values based competitive squad with around 60 competitive swimmers and 100 non competitive swimmers representing Flyers Stratford Swimming Club regional and nationally. With many years of success at national level, and a strong pathway in place to not only support our swimmers to be the best they can be but to develop and encourage our coaches with their own careers.

 

The coaching role can be set up to suit the Head Coach with strong support from management. We currently need someone to take over the age group squad with a mixture of poolside and planning hours plus weekend work included in the contract with the option of extra hours in the non competitive area, the position can be catered towards what suits.

 

Responsibilities:

• Delivery and execution of daily training programmes and long-term training plans.

• Coach squads of all ages and stages and fitness squads.

• Plan, organise and attend Club events and target meets.

• Assist in the implementation and compliance of all Club policies.

• Forming and maintaining networks and working relationships as appropriate with key stakeholders.

• Undertake database and administrative tasks as required.

• Produce documentation on results, reports and presentations to support the role as required.

• Explore areas of potential growth for the Club in both membership and revenue.

• Proactive with upskilling and training opportunities.

• The opportunity to increase hours with the local swim school. Key Skills Required

• Demonstrate sound organisational skills.

• Strong written and verbal communications skills, engaging effectively with all age groups.

• Previously demonstrated computer literacy and knowledge of Microsoft Office and other relevant swimming programmes.

• Be flexible and adaptable.

• Be aware of Occupational Health & Safety principles.

• Hold a current First Aid certificate or Resuscitation Certificate.

• Previous experience of the swim coaching environment and success in the swimming environment.

• Be motivated to assist swimmers to develop and achieve their swimming goals.

• Swim Coaching qualifications/ accreditations (eg. Teacher of Swimming & Water Safety and/or Teacher of Competitive Strokes) or be working towards attaining these accreditations. Bronze and Silver Swim Coach license an advantage.

• Full clean NZ drivers’ licence.

 

Full time 30 hours minimum. Flexible start $45,000-$55,000 depending on experience.

 

With support and encouragement from the existing head coach it would be ideal for an up and coming coach to get their feet on the ground and work through their own coaching practices and philosophy’s. This is an opportunity to live and work close to some of New Zealand best hiking tracks and surfing spots. Stratford District currently has a new 25m competitive pool under constructing and is an ideal place for a young family to get on the housing ladder and raise a family.
