Golden Bay Swimming Club recently enjoyed some professional development from Swimming New Zealand to ensure that they continue to provide the excellent swimming programme they are so well known for.
Sarah Gibbison from Swimming NZ spent the afternoon with the volunteer coaches working through basic drills, class management ideas, aquatic readiness and how people learn.
The theory session was followed by a pool session where ideas were shared about how best to teach the four strokes, and what different drills, games and activities could be used to make this happen.
The coaches all spent time in the water trying new drills and activities and discussed which ones they thought would work for their swimmers in the future. There were lots of good questions asked, and plenty of fun had.
It was an excellent training session, where all involved walked away with lots of new ideas for their lessons.
Thank you to Golden Bay Swimming Club for being so welcoming and allowing us to spend time with you. We look forward to continuing to work with you again in the future.
