Breaststroker Glenn Snyders has had his first taste of the action at the FINA World Short Course Swimming Championships in Doha, Qatar.
The 27 year old made the top 16 in the 100m breaststroke heats with a time of 58.23 on the first morning of competition to go through to the evening’s semi-finals.
In the semi-final he went 57.84, close to his New Zealand record time of 57.67 which he set at the New Zealand Short Course Championships back in September, but was unable to progress through to the finals.
Snyders will next be in action on day three of the competition in the 200m breaststroke.
New Zealand’s other representative at the championships, Nathan Capp, will make his first appearance on day two in the 400m individual medley.
The FINA World Short Course Swimming Championships continue until December 7 with morning sessions starting at 9.30am local time and finals sessions starting at 6pm local time.
