Swimming New Zealand is pleased to have secured funding to implement its campaign through to the Rio Olympics.
High Performance Sport New Zealand has allotted $1.4m per year for the next two years to Swimming New Zealand's campaign to Rio, which does not include other individual payments to swimmers including Performance Enhancement Grants.
"We have been on a year-to-year basis currently, so to have surety of funding through to the 2016 Rio Olympics is important for us," said Swimming NZ chief executive, Christian Renford.
"An important aspect of this for us is that it will also allow us to integrate our key 2020 Olympic prospects into the process. Swimmers aiming for medals in Tokyo need to be actively introduced to the Olympic programme for 2016 as it takes two Olympic cycles to develop an Olympic athlete."
This year Swimming New Zealand received $1.5m but the organisation is confident it can meet its key campaign objectives which are already well in place for Rio.
