The Taranaki region is fortunate to have the Todd Energy Aquatic Centre which is an indoor and outdoor swimming pool complex centrally located in New Plymouth.
It is situated on the foreshore, adjacent to the Coastal Walkway, with access off Tisch Avenue.
There's a range of indoor and outdoor features at the Todd Energy Aquatic Centre which is great fun for the whole family all year round. They run a successful Learn to Swim Programme all year, with over 700 children registered in term three alone. Swim School Coordinator Trish Ball and her team run swimming lessons for all ages, from six months through to adults.
They believe that not only is swimming a great way to exercise, but knowing how to swim generates confidence in and around water.
Trish has a great team of swim teachers who are all trained through Swimming New Zealand ASTA (Assistant Swim Teacher Award). Ongoing professional development training is offered to her staff to up-skill and further their swim teaching development.
Recently the Todd Energy Aquatic Centre had a visit from Koru the State Kiwi Swim Safe mascot. Koru visited the pool during childrens swimming lessons and was there to encourage children to learn swimming and water safety skills. Koru was a real hit with all the children and the Aquatic centre staff.
We look forward to continuing to work with Trish and the Todd Energy Aquatic Centre in the future, and wish them the very best for the rest of Term 3 and a busy and rewarding Term 4.
