Para-Swimmer Mary Fisher has been named Disabled Sportsperson of the Year at the 52nd Halberg Awards in Auckland last night.
Fisher had an impressive outing at the 2014 Pan Pacific Para-Swimming Championships bringing home six of the nine gold medals the team achieved at the event.
In total for the year 2014 she claimed 17 gold medals and ended the year ranked first in six long course events and five short course events.
It was the third time she had been nominated for the award which has been won by her Para-Swimming team mate Sophie Pascoe for the last three years.
Pascoe was also among the finalists for the award again this year.
Other finalists included Para-Skier Corey Peters and Para-Cyclist Emma Foy with pilot Laura Fairweather.
