Jack Donaldson

1915 - 2009

Jack Donaldson, Life member of Swimming New Zealand and FINA silver pin recipient.

Jack first joined a swimming club in 1930 and competed in swimming and surf lifesaving competitions until 1940. He was a New Zealand selector and an official with several New Zealand teams including Olympic manager (Melbourne) in 1956, Commonwealth Games manager (Jamaica) in 1966 and team manager of the first World Championship (Belgrade) in 1973. He served on the FINA Technical Swimming Committee from 1968 – 1980 and held the vice-chair and Chairman positions.

Jack passed away on October 9 2009. His contribution to swimming locally, regionally, nationally and internationally was immense and he will be remembered as one of the great stalwarts of our sport.
