It is with sadness that we learnt of the tragic loss of French swimmer Camille Muffat.
Muffat was an Olympic champion at the London 2012 Olympics claiming gold in the 400m freestyle as well as picking up a silver and bronze for the 200m freestyle and 4x200m freestyle respectively.
Her many great swimming achievements also included winning medals at the FINA World Championships in 2013 and 2011 and at the FINA World Swimming Championships (25m) in 2010.
Muffat, 25, retired from competitive swimming in 2014.
Swimming New Zealand extends our deepest sympathies to the family and friends of Muffat as well as the aquatic community of France in this sad time.
