The start of something extraordinary

Auckland swimmer on the podium at Australian Age Champs

Auckland swimmer Annabelle Paterson won a bronze medal on the sixth day of action at the Australian Age Group Championships in Sydney.

The United club swimmer was third in the final of the 16 years 200m backstroke in 2:15.93, which was under the time she will need to achieve to qualify for the World Junior Championships.

It is the sixth medal by the squad with a further three A finals last night to bring that tally to 27 for the championships.

Stratford’s Joshua Gilbert continued his strong form to finish fourth in the 13 years 400m individual medley in 4:56.53 while Thomas Heaton was fifth in the 16 years 1500m freestyle in 16:07.70.
